The present invention relates to a pedestrian detection device of a vehicle when driving a vehicle at night, and a method thereof. According to the present invention, the pedestrian detection device comprises: a first camera for photographing a first image including color information on the surroundings of a vehicle when driving the vehicle at night; a second camera for photographing a second image including information on thermal distribution with respect to the surroundings of the vehicle; a pedestrian detection unit for detecting a non-pedestrian area from the first image by using the color information, and detecting a pedestrian area by excluding the non-pedestrian area from the second image; and a display unit for matching the pedestrian area with the second image to display the same.
