866,312. Shoots. CALDERON AUTOMATION Inc. April 26, 1958, No. 13314/58. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group XII] A shoot 32 for feeding scrap to a steel-making furnace has a planar bottom and downwardlyconverging sides 34, 35 merging through curved parts into the bottom, the shoot being wider than the greatest length of the scrap pieces at its entry and narrower than the length of at least some scrap pieces at the delivery end. Scrap is fed to the shoot 32 from a tiltable body 38 having a wall 40 with graduated inclines 47, 48, 49 so that when the body 38 is raised the scrap is delivered intermittently. The form of the shoot 32 causes the small quantity of scrap delivered at one time to fall so that the individual pieces are arranged to enter the furnace without jamming. The shoot 32 and tiltable body 38 are mounted on a travelling carriage.
|
