Provided is an ophthalmic apparatus capable of acquiring preferred AO-SLO images irrespective of whether or not a photoreceptor cell defect occurs. The ophthalmic apparatus includes: a tomographic image acquiring unit configured to acquire tomographic images of a fundus of an eye to be inspected; a layer analyzing unit configured to extract information on a state of photoreceptor cells from the tomographic images; a position alignment unit configured to associate the information on the state of the photoreceptor cells with information on image taking positions on a planar image of the fundus; and a planar image acquiring unit configured to acquire planar images at the image taking positions on the fundus of the eye to be inspected while changing an aberration correction manner at the image taking positions based on the information on the state of the photoreceptor cells associated by the position alignment unit. |
