PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molten metal conveyance gutter that can minimize thermal loss at an inlet and an outlet of a container through which molten metal cannot seep out, and the penetration of heat from a heater to the molten metal is maximized.SOLUTION: A container includes a fire-resistant liner 12 having two fire-resistant liner units 14 and 15, and junctions 26 and 27 between the units, each of the units having an outer surface and an inner surface that comes in contact with metal. A housing 20 surrounds the outer surface of the fire-resistant liner units at least partially and has a gap 24 present between the outer surface and the housing. A plurality of molten metal confinement elements 35 and 36 where molten metal cannot seep out are located on both sides of the junctions in the gap 24, are located at least below a horizontal level corresponding to a predetermined maximum working height of the molten metal retained in the container in use, and divide the gap 24 into a molten metal confinement area between the elements and another area that may be used for holding a device such as an electric heater that can be damaged by coming into contact with the molten metal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
