Classes 17(2) and 17(3) A shoe comprises a sheet rubber upper 10 connected to an insole 13, a rubber outsole 20 with spiked studs 30 each having a neck 33 embedded in the outsole with a base 31 and head 34 bearing respectively on the outer and inner surfaces of the outsole, and a middle sole 18, 19 which forms a body of material between the heads of the studs and the insole. The insole 13, the textile upper lining 11, and a rubber-impregnated wrapper 15 are stitched at 17. The middle sole comprises a layer 18, initially of raw rubber with sponging and vulcanising agents, a layer 19 of vulcanisable rubber and cork, and filler layers 22, 23. The sole has thickened portions 24 and is surrounded by a rubber foxing strap 21. The outsole with the studs is moulded and vulcanised, and then assembled with the remainder of the shoe for completion in a vulcanising boiler. Specification 761,876 is referred to.
