PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select an update target device with a lighter network load.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 3 as a data processing device includes reception means 34, determination means 35, and transmission means 36. The reception means 34 receives a device retrieval packet including model information about a target model and the version information of an update program, and the update program, which are transmitted from a management server. The determination means 35 determines whether or not it is necessary to update a current program of its own, on the basis of the model information and version information in the received device retrieval packet. The transmission means 36 transmits a response signal only when a result of the determination indicates "it is necessary to update." When the reception means 34 receives an update program which is transmitted on the basis of the response signal, the image forming apparatus rewrites the current program to the update program and performs image forming processing on the basis of the update program.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
