摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display unit of high productivity at low cost, by reducing the manufacturing processes, and to provide a highly reliable liquid crystal display unit of low power consumption.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display unit is manufactured by four photolithography steps, i.e., a step for forming a gate electrode (including the wiring formed on the same layer), by omitting a step for forming an island-shaped semiconductor layer, a step for forming a source electrode and a drain electrode (including the wiring formed on the same layer), a step for forming a contact hole (including removal of an insulating layer, and the like, other than a contact hole), and a step for forming a pixel electrode (including the wiring formed on the same layer). A liquid crystal display unit of high productivity can be provided at low cost, by reducing the photolithography steps. Formation of a parasitic channel is prevented by devising the shape and potential of the wiring.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
