PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide humanized antibodies specific to the protofibrillar form of the &bgr;-amyloid peptide, and the use of the antibodies in the field of Alzheimer's disease.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an antibody which binds to the A-&bgr; peptides aggregated into senile plaques and not to the diffuse deposits of A-&bgr; peptides and whose affinity for the protofibrillar form of the peptide A-&bgr; is at least 100 times greater than its affinity for the other forms of this peptide.
