PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for enhancing the strength of a filler-containing paper and a method for increasing the retention rate of filler in the paper.SOLUTION: A treating method includes treating filler and/or fiber with a cationic polymer electrolyte to prepare a suspension, and then adding a nanofibrillated cellulose thereto. In the method for manufacturing aqueous furnish, the content of the filler is 1 to 60%, preferably 20 to 40% relative to the dry weight of the fiber in the furnish, and the filler is made of precipitated calcium carbonate. The nanofibrillated cellulose in an amount of 0.01 to 20%, preferably 1 to 10%, more preferably 1 to 3%, relative to the dry weight of the fiber in the furnish is added. The cationic polymer electrolyte made of cationic starch in an amount of 0.01 to 5%, more preferably 2 to 4%, relative to the dry weight of the fiber in the furnish is added.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
