A liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of pixel regions. Each of the pixel regions includes a thin-film transistor, a transparent conductive pixel electrode connected to the thin-film transistor, a first common electrode, a first insulating film disposed between the pixel electrode and the first common electrode, a second insulating film, a second common electrode that includes a plurality of slits, and a third insulating film. A space between two closely adjacent boundaries of a pair of pixel electrodes that are adjacent to each other in a longitudinal direction of the plurality of gate lines overlaps the first common electrode and the second common electrode in a plan view.

1. A liquid crystal display device comprising:
a first substrate; a second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein:
a plurality of data lines;a plurality of gate lines; anda plurality of pixel regions, each of which is enclosed by adjacent two data lines and adjacent two gate lines are disposed on the first substrate, each of the pixel regions includes:
a thin-film transistor connected to a data line;a transparent conductive pixel electrode connected to the thin-film transistor;a first common electrode that is transparent and conductive, and disposed between the pixel electrode and the first substrate;a first insulating film disposed between the pixel electrode and the first common electrode to cover the first common electrode;a second insulating film that covers the pixel electrode;a second common electrode that is transparent and conductive, is disposed on the second insulating film, and includes a plurality of slits formed therein; anda third insulating film disposed between the data line and the thin-film transistor, and the first common electrode to cover the data line and the thin-film transistor, the pixel electrode is connected to the thin-film transistor through a contact hole formed in the first insulating film and the third insulating film, and a space between two closely adjacent boundaries of a pair of pixel electrodes that are adjacent to each other in a longitudinal direction of the plurality of gate lines overlaps the first common electrode and the second common electrode in a plan view.
