According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for controlling a pedestrian protection system is performed by: determining whether or not a vehicle skids by using a vehicle speed signal of received EMS and ABS (ESC); calculating the speed of the vehicle close to the actual speed by determining whether the vehicle is front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, when it is determined that the vehicle skids; and determining the speed of the vehicle by using real-time tire pressure information of TPMS. The purpose of the present invention is to improve the accuracy of a vehicle speed value required for pedestrian protection control by referring to tire pressure state of each wheel in a tire pressure detection system. |
