Disclosed are an access network node, a core network node and a paging method, which relate to the field of communications and solve the problem that an M2M service cannot be normally used caused by the fact that a network side cannot determine whether a coverage enhancement technique is required to be adopted in a paging process. The specific solution comprises: a communication interface receives a first packet paging message sent by a core network node; a processor determines that a terminal is an M2M terminal according to the first packet paging message received by the communication interface; and a transmitter sends a second packet paging message in a coverage enhancement type to the terminal. The present invention is used in the paging process.
