The present invention presents an apparatus and a method for controlling a camera for a vehicle, which determine whether a main controller controlling the camera operates properly and when it is determined that the main controller is not operating properly, then an auxiliary controller replaces the main controller to control the camera. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for controlling a camera for a vehicle, comprises: a main camera controller which controls the camera mounted in the vehicle; an operation status determination unit which determines whether the main camera controller operates properly or not; and an auxiliary camera controller which controls the camera on behalf of the main camera controller if the main camera controller is determined that it does not operate properly. |
