The invention relates to a filter (1) which can be mounted on a connection flange (60) of a device (6) that has a circuit with a liquid to be filtered. The filter (1) has a cup-shaped screw housing (3) and a filter insert (4) which is arranged in the screw housing (3) in a replaceable manner. The filter (1) has a seal (31), by means of which the filter (1) can be sealed with respect to the connection flange (60), and the screw housing (3) has an internal thread (33) on the radially inner face of the screw housing peripheral wall (30) in the end face region of the screw housing on the connection flange side. The filter (1) according to the invention is characterized in that the inner thread (33) of the screw housing (3) or a mating thread (23) for the inner thread has at least two mutually spaced thread interruptions (34) when seen looking around the periphery of the thread. The filter insert (4) has an arrangement of legs (44), which extend axially from the filter insert (4) into or through the thread interruptions (34), as radial positioning means for the filter insert (4) in the screw housing (3), said arrangement corresponding to the position and number of thread interruptions (34). The filter (1) has a base (2) which is screwed together with the screw housing (3) and in which at least one decentralized inlet opening (20) and a central outlet opening (21) are formed. The outlet opening (21) has an inner thread (22), by means of which the filter (1) can be screwed onto a threaded connection piece (61) with an external thread (61'), said threaded connection piece forming a part of the connection flange (60), and the base (2) as well as the screw housing (3) of the filter (1) are plastic parts.
