Provided is a tolerance improving agent for plants that is capable of enhancing or improving tolerance of plants to environmental stress (tolerance to high temperatures, tolerance to dryness, etc.). The tolerance improving agent comprises at least one kind of unsaturated carbonyl compound selected from an unsaturated aldehyde and an unsaturated ketone. The unsaturated carbonyl compound may be, for example, a compound having no terminal unsaturated bond and carrying 4-9 carbon atoms that is at least one member selected from among an α,β-alkenal, an α,β-alkanone, a γ,δ-alkenal, a γ,δ-alkanone, a δ,ε-alkenal, a δ,ε-alkanone, an ε,ζ-alkenal and an ε,ζ-alkanone. |
