Provided is a gas separation device that can have a reduced cost and is advantageous in effecting greater compactness and greater lightness of weight while suppressing an increase in pressure loss. The gas separation device causes an absorbing liquid to flow down along the surface of a filler disposed within a processing tank and supplies a gas to be processed containing a target gas component into the processing tank, and the target gas component contained in the gas to be processed is absorbed by the absorbing liquid and separated/recovered from the gas to be processed by means of causing gas-liquid contact between the gas to be processed and the absorbing liquid flowing down across the surface of the filler. The filler has at least one filling unit configured from a plurality of expanded metal plates arrayed in parallel and provided vertically upright. Each expanded metal plate has a strand forming an opening arrayed in a stepwise fashion, and the strand is inclined at an angle of 48-73° with respect to the vertical direction.
