PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel apparatus and method for isolating or recovering subsets of blood cells, such as leucocytes and/or circulatory tumor cells, by filtration without causing the in-cell concentration of therapeutic agents including anticancer agents to vary.SOLUTION: In an apparatus for isolation of leucocytes and tumor cells by filtration: an upper chamber and a lower chamber are cylindrical tubes; one or more laminated filter membranes can hold leucocytes; the inner diameters of the upper chamber and the lower chamber are similar enough to create cylindrical tubes to permit passage of liquid; the one or more laminated filter membranes are placed between the thread ridges of the upper chamber and the lower chamber, each of which includes a filtering device and a collecting tube for collecting erythrocytes from a whole blood sample, the filtering device and the collecting tube being securely fitted to each other; and the filtering device is placed over the collecting tube, and erythrocytes are separated from the leucocytes and collected into the collecting tube after centrifugal processing.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
