A seat for a passenger vehicle, including a bench seat; a base section for supporting the bench seat above a floor or ground surface of the vehicle; a back support section extending upwardly with respect to the bench seat, including two individual back support sections separated by a bridging section; two lap sash safety belts for anchoring people to respective individual back support sections of the seat; and a bridging lap sash safety belt for anchoring a person to the bridging section of the seat.
