Disclosed is an electrolyte for dye-sensitized solar cell elements, which contains a first imidazole compound and a second imidazole compound represented by formula (1), and wherein the molar volume concentration C2 of the second imidazole compound is lower than the molar volume concentration C1 of the first imidazole compound. The first imidazole compound contains a halogen, a halide salt and a basic substance; a redox pair is formed by the halogen and the halide salt; the halogen and the halide salt contain the same halogen atom; and the basic substance is configured of a benzimidazole compound. (In formula (1), each of R1-R4 independently represents a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group having 1-6 carbon atoms, or the like; and each of R5 and R6 independently represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon group or the like.) |
