In a GPS receiver, early F1, late F2 and prompt F3 versions of reference / replica signals are compared (correlated) to a received satellite signal R using analogue comparators (correlators), and the analogue comparators are arranged in one or more Application Specific Integrated Circuit Radio Frequency Chips (ASIC RF Chips). Correlations with early and late signals may be balanced, and the correlation with the prompt signal used for further processing. Alternatively the prompt signal may be omitted (fig. 2). Battery power is reduced. In-phase and quadrature (IQ) processing is possible. |
