A method for producing aqueous silicone emulsions containing highly viscous polyorganosiloxanes having a low content of cyclic siloxanes in several steps; the addition of acidic compounds intended to catalyse polycondensation of the polyorganosiloxanes being carried out only after an emulsion is produced in the first step exclusively with nonionogenic emulsifiers, without impairing the rate of the polycondensation reaction.
