A METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIATION OF TONSIL-DERIVED MESENCHYMAL STEM CELL INTO INSULIN SECRETORY CELLS

The present invention relates to a method for differentiating insulin-secreting cells from tonsil-derived mesenchymal stem cells, and to a pharmaceutical composition using the same. The method for differentiating insulin-secreting cells from tonsil-derived mesenchymal stem cells of the present invention exhibits high differentiation ability into the insulin-secreting cells, thereby securing large quantities of insulin-secreting cells in a short period of time. According to the present invention, the differentiated insulin-secreting cells exhibit excellent usability as a cellular therapeutic agent by using the discarded autologous tissue, and minimizing a problem of autoimmunity. The method comprises the following steps: (a) culturing the tonsil-derived mesenchymal stem cells including insulin-transferrin-selenium (ITS) in a medium; (b) adding ITS, taurine, and nicotinamide to the cultured cells, and culturing the same; and (c) adding ITS, taurine, and nicotinamide, glucagon-like peptide (GLP-1), and exendin-4 to the cultured cells, and culturing the same.
