A tanker for transporting liquefied gases at subatmospheric temperatures and about atmospheric pressure contains at least one liquid-tight thermally insulated hold 13, 14, 15 or 16 with a prismatic storage tank 1 disposed within. The tank 1 is divided into a plurality of liquidtight compartments by walls 20, 21, at least one of which 20 bisects the tank longitudinally. The tank 1 is also provided with a hole in the top communicating with each compartment and with a trunk 5 which houses the vapour, filling and emptying lines. A conduit 29 connects with one of the compartments and with each of others through pipes 27 fitted with valves 26. The compartments may also be connected by valves 23, 24 and 25.
