PURPOSE:To prevent a jam from worsening due to the following paper, by changing a feed of the paper to be switched to a route where no jam is generated when the jam is detected in the downstream side of a means which changes a paper conveying route to be switched to a route of one-side copying or both-side copying. CONSTITUTION:Paper P, fed from a feed paper cassette 1a, passes through a resist roller 13a and a conveying path 2a transferring a picture in a transfer device 4a to be fixed in a fixing device 5a, and the paper P reaches a switching guide 7a. When one-side copying is performed, a machine, placing the guide 7a in a position of full line, feeds the papers P to a paper discharge part 8a. When both-side copying is performed, the machine, placing the guide 7a in a position of dotted line, inverts the paper P in an inverting guide 14a to be fed to the conveying path 2a after a predetermined number of sheets of the papers P are stored in an intermediate tray 11a, and the machine, transferring a picture to the reverse side in the transfer device 4a to be fixed in the fixing device 5a, discharges the paper by returning the guide 7a to the position of full line. If a jam is generated in the downstream from the guide 7a, it changes being switched to a route where no jam is generated.
