A setting out device 10 suitable for marking out indicia on a surface comprises a wheel 12 and a support structure 14. The wheel has an outer periphery 22 with a plurality of mounting locations 26 for removably receiving marking elements so that they can mark a surface over which the wheel is rolled. The device also includes a plurality of said marking elements, which may be conventional marker pens (34, figure 2) and may be resiliently retractable by springs (32, figure 2). The length of the support handle 36 may be adjustable. Further, a removable and adjustable guide member 42 may be provided to assist in setting the lateral distance L of the roller from the edge 66 of a surface. Further preferable features include a locking screw 68, a plurality of interchangeable wheels and a rubber grip strip 24 along the periphery. Methods of marking out indicia, as well as installing a roof using the device are also disclosed. |
