A method for displaying guidance symbols to a pilot, to assist with landing an aircraft on an aircraft carrier. A Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) (Fig. 2, 24) shows a Ship Relative Velocity Vector (SRVV) scale 34, as a first image component. The system determines if the image display is offset from a desired position. A further image component, Offset Feature 50, indicates a range of possible positions for the first image component. The offset feature gives a visual representation of the probability of landing at any point within that range, shown by, for example, the distance between the arms at any point of a V shape. |
