PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collagen fiber gel for cell culture which is not contracted by force of traction of cells.SOLUTION: The collagen fiber gel in which the collagen concentration falls into the range of 0.25 to 0.53%, the elastic modulus falls into the range of 60 to 120 kPa and collagen molecules are cross-linked among them is useful as a medium for cell culture and, by being molded integrally with a cell culture vessel, can easily produce cell culture substratum. The collagen fiber gel can be produced according to such a method that phosphoric acid buffer solution of pH 6 to 10, collagen aqueous solution of pH 1 to 5 and a water-soluble carbodiimide are mixed and cross-linking is introduced in the way of being made fibrous. The collagen originated from fish skin whose denaturation temperature in the aqueous solution exceeds 25°C is desirably used. |
