A multi-function cooking apparatus (100) for at least semi-automated cooking support and a method for controlling recipe execution on the cooking apparatus are disclosed. The cooking apparatus includes an interface component (110) configured to access a plurality of recipe programs on a data storage device (200). A particular recipe program (210) comprises a control portion having a plurality of control instructions with at least one technical parameter setting to control cooking steps performed by the cooking apparatus in case of executing the control portion. Further, the cooking apparatus has at least one memory component configured to load the control portion (211) from the data storage device (200) to be executed by at least one processor component (120). Further, a technical parameter storage component (130) is configured to store compatible technical parameter setting rules wherein a compatible technical parameter setting ensures proper operation of the cooking apparatus. A parameter check component (140) of the cooking apparatus is configured to prevent loading of the control portion (211) into a load memory portion of the memory component if the control instructions include at least one particular technical parameter setting which is incompatible with the compatible technical parameter setting rules; and is configured to trigger loading of the control portion (211) into the load memory portion for executing if all technical parameter settings of the plurality of control instructions are in compliance with the compatible technical parameter setting rules.
