A plastics container for bottles &c. has closure flaps 15, hinged at 20 and moulded integrally with the body of the container and is formed with convexly offset portions 19 adjacent the junction of the side and end walls. Flaps 15 bear tabs 22 which lock, in the closed position in hand holes 17. The hinge line 20 is formed after the moulding operation by compressing the material between heated dies, Figs. 9, 10 (not shown), to form a thinned flexible strip of material. Embossed lettering may be carried on the flaps 15, and portions 19 and the bottom wall may be roughened all to reduce slippage in stacking or handling. The container may be divided into cells 16 by partitions 13, 14 of fibreboard &c., and the bottom wall provided with drainage holes 18. Rubber feet may be provided. In a modification, the closure flaps bear tabs which catch under abutments on the top edge of the end walls, in the closed position.</p> |
