The present invention relates to a strain for producing hyaluronic acid, and to a method for producing hyaluronic acid by using the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to a novel strain of the species Streptococcus, capable of producing hyaluronic acid at high concentrations, and to a method for producing hyaluronic acid by using the same. According to the present invention, Streptococcus zooepidemicus KL0101J (KCCM 11360P) is capable of producing hyaluronic acid at high concentrations in a medium comprising a yeast extract as a non-animal raw material instead of tryptone and soy peptone as animal raw materials which can induce an allergic reaction, while having excellent ability to produce hyaluronic acid, and being high-priced. Therefore, the Streptococcus zooepidemicus KL0101J (KCCM 11360P) can be used broadly in a field of a food, a cosmetic product, and a pharmaceutical product. |
