There provided is a knitting yarn gripping device for a flatbed knitting machine that does not cause dense stitches or yarn breakage even when the knitting yarn is gripped. A lock lever 30 is energized by a wire spring 31 and when a head end of a short arm 30a comes in contact with a lock part 13a of a nip claw 13, nip claws 11, 13 and a nip claw 12 are locked on the way of closing. The lock lever 30 is supported by a connecting pin 32 that connects a top end of a small rod 15 to the nip claw 12 in a manner capable of swinging displacement with an intermediate portion between the short arm 30a and a long arm 30b serving as a support part. A top end of a small rod 16 is mutually connected by a connecting pin 33 while being sandwiched between the two nip claws 11, 13. Between head ends of the nip claws 11, 13 and the nip claw 12, a capturing space 10c is formed, and a knitting yarn is able to be pulled down in such a state that the knitting yarn is captured but is not gripped. |
