Disclosed are a method for transmitting a message and an electronic device thereof. According to an embodiment, a method for operating an electronic device may comprise: determining whether a call of a counterpart electronic device is not available; and transmitting a call wish message to the counterpart electronic device. The method for operating an electronic device is not limited to the above-described method, but an alternative embodiment is possible in the same or similar ranges of the present invention. Therefore, an efficient communication interface can be provided as the electronic device transmits a call wish message when a telephone call of a counterpart electronic device is not available.
