928,773. Valves. INGERSOLL-RAND CO. June 23, 1961 [June 27, 1960], No. 22831/61. Class 135. A valve for the control of fluid under pressure comprises a casing 18, Fig. 1, having a discharge passage 22 and a bore 20, a valve body 24, 26, 28 in the bore, and means for applying pressure substantially equal to the pressure in the discharge passage to the exterior of the body to cause the latter to be subjected to compression. The piston 12 of a high-pressure compressor draws fluid from passages 34, 36 through a spring-loaded disc closure 46 and expels it into the passage 22 through passages 52, 54, 56 and 58 and a spring-loaded ring closure 62. The valve body is in three parts each mounted with annular clearance in the bore 20, the clearance being filled with fluid at discharge pressure from the passage 58. Fig. 5 shows a further embodiment in which both inlet and discharge valves 134, 152 are of ring type and the discharge passage 112 communicates with an undercut 148 in the central part of the body.
|
