摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a catalyst structure or the like and to improve clarification performance of nitrogen oxide as much as possible in an exhaust gas clarifying catalyst which produces lower hydrocarbon from higher hydrocarbon and further reduces nitrogen oxide by using the lower hydrocarbon as a reducing agent. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust gas clarifying catalyst comprises, in a dispersed state, a first catalyst component which reduces the nitrogen oxide by using the lower hydrocarbon and a second catalyst component which produces at least the lower hydrocarbon from the higher hydrocarbon in an active temperature range of the first catalyst component. Thereby, the catalyst structure or the like is simplified by forming one catalyst form. Further when the catalyst is used, the higher hydrocarbon is supplied to an exhaust gas system to produce the lower hydrocarbon from the higher hydrocarbon by the second catalyst component and then the lower hydrocarbon is supplied to the first catalyst component in order to utilize the lower hydrocarbon as the reducing agent for clarifying NOx. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
