PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a method of generating chlorine dioxide gas which ensures an extremely long generation duration of the chlorine dioxide gas; and a gel composition.SOLUTION: A method of generating chlorine dioxide gas includes: adding, into an aqueous liquid, a gel activator containing chlorite, a gas generation adjusting agent, a pH adjusting agent, and a water-absorbing resin; and sustainably generating chlorine dioxide gas from a gel composition obtainable by gelification. The gel composition contains a gel activator containing chlorite, a gas generation adjusting agent, a pH adjusting agent, and a water-absorbing resin, and an aqueous liquid ingredient. The gel composition sustainably generates chlorine dioxide gas. |
