The present invention relates to bit interleaving and de-interleaving of quasi-cyclic low-density parity-check (QC-LDPC) codes and discloses an interleaving scheme that allows for a matching of the importance level of the cyclic blocks and the robustness of the constellation word bits to which they are mapped. A Monte-Carlo approach is employed for obtaining permutations for re-arranging the sequence of cyclic blocks within a codeword such that the block-error rate is minimized. Specific optimized permutations are provided for the three spatial-multiplexing configurations, three transmission power ratios, and seven QC-LDPC codes used in the DVB-NGH standard. |
