<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner that can be reduced in size without causing an increase in costs and a decrease in scanning accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: A light source unit includes a light source, a driving chip, a circuit board, a polarization adjusting member 13, and a collimator lens. The polarization adjusting member 13 includes a phase-shifting element having an area 14a opposite to a light beam LB1 emitted from a light-emitting unit 101a of a semiconductor chip 101, and an area 14b opposite to a light beam LB2 emitted from a light-emitting unit 101b.
