<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a discharge lamp lighting device capable of reducing a heat stress at a high temperature and a low power source voltage, and securing a lighting maintaining performance of a discharge lamp; a head light; and a vehicle using it. <P>SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device comprises: a DC/DC converter part 2 for supplying power to a discharge lamp La; an inverter part 3; a control part 5 for controlling the DC/DC converter part 2 and the inverter part 3; a temperature detection part 7 for detecting an ambient temperature Ta; and a power source voltage detection part 6 for detecting a power source voltage Vin. The control part 5 reduces power supplied to the discharge lamp La from maximum power to steady power during periods TA, TB after starting the discharge lamp La, supplies the steady power to the discharge lamp La during a period Tc, reduces the steady power according to an increasing degree of the ambient temperature Ta and a reducing degree of the power source voltage Vin, and sets a lower limit for the steady power. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
