<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve appearance of a finished booklet through square fold processing by suppressing a distinct fold line from being formed on a final piece of paper. <P>SOLUTION: A post-processing control unit 70 controls a superposition portion 30 so that middle folding for the final piece of paper can be performed together with middle folding for one or more pieces of paper P ahead of the final piece of paper. Since the middle folding for the final piece of paper is performed for the two or more pieces of paper P including the final piece of paper, the formed fold line becomes less distinct than in the case where the final piece of paper is singly subjected to the middle folding.
