Compensated oscillator

An oscillator includes a compensated current source that adjusts an output current based on process, supply voltage, and temperature (“PVT”) variations of an integrated circuit device. The oscillator generates an output signal having a frequency based, in part, on the output current of the compensated current source. Accordingly, the output signal has a relatively low sensitivity to PVT variations.

1. An oscillator comprising:
a plurality of delay cells, each of the plurality of delay cells to delay a respective input signal based on a corresponding plurality of bias currents, the plurality of delay cells to generate an oscillating output signal having a frequency based on the delay; and a compensated current source to generate the plurality of bias currents, the compensated current source comprising:
a first circuit that generates a first current that is proportional to a temperature of an integrated circuit device;a second circuit that generates a second current that is complementary to the temperature of the integrated circuit device;the compensated current source to generate the plurality of bias currents based on a combination of the first current and the second current;a third circuit to generate a third current proportional to a voltage reference of the oscillator, the compensated current source to generate a bias voltage based on a fourth current, the fourth current generated by subtracting the third current from a fifth current that is based on the combination of the first current and the second current; andthe compensated current source to generate the bias voltage based on the bias voltage.
