storing a validity mask in a target page that is associated with a plurality of pages of memory cells of a group of pages and that provides a validity status and location information for each of the plurality of pages of memory cells, wherein the plurality of pages includes the target page, a first number of pages of memory cells that were written prior to the target page in a write sequence, and a second number of pages of memory cells that were written after the target page in the write sequence.
