Embodiments include a system for determining cardiovascular information for a patient. The system may include at least one computer system configured to receive patient-specific data regarding a geometry of the patient's heart, and create a three-dimensional model representing at least a portion of the patient's heart based on the patient-specific data. The at least one computer system may be further configured to create a physics-based model relating to a blood flow characteristic of the patient's heart and determine a fractional flow reserve within the patient's heart based on the three-dimensional model and the physics-based model.

1. A system for determining cardiovascular information for a patient, the system comprising:
at least one computer system configured to: receive patient-specific image data regarding a geometry of an anatomical structure of the patient, the anatomical structure including at least a portion of one or more coronary arteries; create a three-dimensional model representing at least the portion of the one or more coronary arteries, using the received patient-specific image data; create, using the three-dimensional model, a blood flow model relating to a blood flow characteristic within the portion of the one or more coronary arteries, the blood flow model including one or more equations of blood flow and one or more boundary conditions of the blood flow; modify the one or more boundary conditions using the patient-specific image data; determine a value of the blood flow characteristic at each of a plurality of locations of the portion of the one or more coronary arteries by solving one or more equations of the blood flow model using the one or more modified boundary conditions; and display a representation of the portion of the one or more coronary arteries, wherein the determined values of the blood flow characteristic are indicated on the display of respective locations of the one or more coronary arteries using at least one visual indicator.
