FIELD: chemistry.SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of oxidising an alkyl aromatic compound, which includes contacting an alkyl aromatic compound, a solvent, a bromine source, a catalyst and an oxidant to obtain a product containing at least one of the compounds: aromatic alcohol, aromatic aldehyde, aromatic ketone and aromatic carboxylic acid.
