The present invention provides a silencer which improves a silencing effect corresponding to a noise of a wide frequency band while reducing a pressure loss and without increasing a size thereof. The silencer comprises: a cylinder-shaped rotation chamber (11) wherein at least two sheets of plate-shaped guide member (13, 14) are cross-arranged; and a resonance chamber (15) to which a sound wave, the sound wave delivered by a fluid which penetrates the rotation chamber (11), is introduced into a hole (16) wherein the guide members (13, 14) are formed of two sheets of a semicircular plate-shaped member on which sound absorbing materials are attached, and the resonance chamber (15) installed in a discharge side of the rotation chamber (11). The silencer (11) is connected to an internal-combustion engine, a heat recovery boiler combined with the internal-combustion engine, a ventilating duct, a facility in a hull of a ship, and the like. |
