The invention relates to an apparatus intended to determine the oxidation stability of electrically insulating oils. According to the invention, the apparatus comprises a Griffin vessel (1) wherein an electrically insulating oil (2) to be tested is introduced and a copper coil (3), the vessel (1) being placed in a thermostated bath (4) heated by means of some copper bars (8) fixed on a brass receiving plate (9) subjected to infrared radiations emitted by some lamps (10 and 10'), the oil (2) to be tested being exposed to a UV radiation flux emitted by a lamp (14) placed at the upper part of the apparatus; the action of the electric field which really takes place is reproduced by means of an assembly of two electrodes, namely an annular electrode (15) placed around the vessel (1) and connected to ground, and a flat electrode (16) placed at the bottom of the vessel (1) and connected to the high voltage terminal of a voltage step up transformer (17). |
