The present invention relates to a method for categorizing files by analyzing multimedia file fragments. The present invention provides a method for categorizing multimedia files using multimedia file fragments which includes a step (a) of converting the multimedia file fragments into ASCII codes; a step (b) of counting the number of converted ASCII codes according to each ASCII code value and drawing frequency distribution for each ASCII code value; and a step (c) of drawing a kind of the multimedia file fragments by using the frequency distribution and comparison data.
