A composition comprising a liposome comprising a lipid and a mannosylated lipid; and at least one myelin basic protein (MBP) peptide, the at least one MBP peptide consisting of SEQ ID NO: 9, wherein the at least one MBP peptide is encapsulated by the liposome. The compositions can further comprise one or more of the following MBP peptides: SEQ ID NO: 1, SEQ ID NO: 10, SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO: 11 and SEQ ID NO: 12. The disclosed compositions are useful in treating multiple sclerosis, including, without limitation, a relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS), a secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS), a primary progressive multiple sclerosis (PPMS) or a progressive relapsing multiple sclerosis (PRMS). |
