Provided are image pickup device capable of suppressing power consumption, an endoscope, an endoscope system, and an image pickup device driving method. This image pickup device is provided with: a first chip 21 having a plurality of pixels that generate and output image pickup signals; a transmission cable 3, which is connected to the first chip 21, and propagates the image pickup signals; a termination resistor 51, which is provided at the terminal of the transmission cable 3, has an alternating current termination resistor 502 capable of varying a resistance value, and a direct current termination resistor 501 capable of varying a resistance value, and which has a constant combined resistance value of the direct current termination resistor 501 and the alternating termination resistor 502; and a control unit 55 that performs a control to make the resistance value of the direct current termination resistor 501 higher than that in a normal operation period during which the first chip 21 outputs the image pickup signals such that a current to be outputted from the first chip 21 is suppressed in a blanking period during which the first chip 21 is not outputting the image pickup signals. |
