Geocell deployment apparatus comprises a guide for causing geocell expansion, a wheeled carrier connected to the guide, and a spool on which compressed geocells are wound. The carrier is releasably attachable to an industrial vehicle, so that after a first row of expanded geocells are anchored to an underlying surface, the spool is forced to unwind and to discharge additional geocells into the guide interior to induce geocell expansion, during transport of the carrier. In one embodiment, a positioning device is secured to two guide sections, for urging a terminal geocell strip in abutting and disengagement preventing relation with a section sidewall while permitting relative motion. In one embodiment, feeding apparatus comprises a structure for receiving the geocells such that they are maintained in an unrestrained condition, and a feed unit for feeding them by a controllable feed rate to the receiving structure. Methods are also disclosed. |
