PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform appropriate focus adjustment device even when a composition is changed when a focus is locked.SOLUTION: A focus adjustment device includes: focus adjustment means 19 for performing focus adjustment of an optical system 8 on the basis of the focus adjustment state of the optical system 8; inhibition means 19 for inhibiting the focus adjustment of the optical system 8 by the focus adjustment means 19; reference image setting means 19 for setting an image of a subject to be a target of the focus adjustment of the optical system 8 as a reference image; recognition means 19 for repeatedly recognizing the position of an image corresponding to the reference image in a screen of the optical system 8; and control means 19 for, when the focus adjustment of the optical system 8 is inhibited by the inhibition means 19 if the position of the image recognized by the recognition means 19 is changed, cancelling the inhibition of the focus adjustment of the optical system 8 by the inhibition means 19, and causing the focus adjustment means 19 to resume the focus adjustment of the optical system 8 on the basis of the focus adjustment state corresponding to the changed position of the image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
